Eagle:
Eagle Trail (2.6 mile from Eagle Trailhead to Mesa Reservoir) extends west through Boulder Valley Ranch to its terminus at the Sage Trailhead. An easy loop is provided by taking the Eagle Trail to the Sage Trail (1.8 mile [2.7 for whole Sage/Eagle Loop]). This trail also provides access to the Mesa Reservoir area and beyond to the Foothills Trailhead. Bicyclists and equestrians frequent these trails. To reach the trailhead turn east from Highway 36 onto Jay road, north of Boulder. Head north on 51st Street which becomes 55th Street just past the trailhead about two miles off Jay Road.
South Teller Farm:
East Boulder Trail is sport chair accessible and meanders to the north past Teller Lake and through farmland utilized for crop production, cattle and horse grazing and bee keeping on its way to the North Teller Trailhead. Northward, from the northwest corner of North Teller Trailhead, the trail extends west along Valmont Road for approximately 1/4 mile. Here it turns north crossing Valmont Road and enters the White Rocks Nature Preserve (**Please note that all visitors must stay on trail in the White Rocks Nature Preserve as the property is private land for which Boulder holds a conservation easement.) This trail is sport chair accessible from Valmont Road northward to Boulder Creek. This trail may be taken to the White Rocks Trailhead on 95th Street or to the Gunbarrel Farm Trailhead at the intersection of Boulderado and Cambridge Streets in the Heatherwood neighborhood. The trailhead is on the north side of Arapahoe Road between 75th and 95th Streets
Switzerland:
This trail follows an old railroad grade through the hills northwest of Boulder. Rising gently, the wide trail travels through pine and aspen forest, with great views of the surrounding landscape. Take Colo. 119 west out of Boulder. One mile past the tunnel, turn right on Sugarloaf Road. At 4.8 miles, turn right on Sugarloaf Mountain Road. Follow this dirt road to its end — a large cul-de sac and the trailheads the Switzerland Trail.

Heil Ranch:
The trail starts out on a 4wd road and gently moves uphill until you turn left onto the Wapiti singletrack trail. The Wapiti trail gradually climbs and switchbacks its way 2.5 miles uphill. The grade stays very runnable, and stays in the trees (a good choice of trail for a hot day). At 2.5 miles, turn left or right to get on to the 2.6 mile Ponderosa loop. By turning left you’ll go uphill towards the high point of run first at 6,807 feet elevation. On this loop you’ll experience very scenic Continental Divide views as well as front range views of Boulder Resevoir and Haystack Mountain. The round trip back down totals a nice 7.6 mile run. Take Highway 36 North, 3 miles past Boulder to Lefthand Canyon road (a left turn off the Highway; the Greenbriar restaurant is at this corner). Take a right on Geer Canyon Road. This will take you all the way to the parking lot for the Heil Valley Ranch trailhead.
Shanahan Ridge:
Shanahan Trail can be taken to either the North Fork or South Fork through ponderosa pine savannah. Both trails intersect with the Mesa Trail. Bear Canyon Trail also accesses the Mesa Trail through the NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research) property. The trailhead is on the Southwest end of Hardscrabble Lane off Lehigh.
South Boulder Creek – Big Bluestem Loop:
Starting from the South Boulder Creek West Trailhead, you have two options: run clockwise starting on the South Boulder Creek Trail and ending on the Big Bluestem Trail or counter-clockwise starting on the gravel road near the parking lot (Big Bluestem Trail) and ending on the South Boulder Creek Trail. Driving south from Boulder on Broadway (Hwy. 93), the South Boulder Creek West Trailhead will be on your right approximately 2 miles after the last traffic light (Greenbriar) in the Boulder city limits.
South Mesa:
South Mesa is located 1.7 miles west of Highway 93 on Eldorado Springs Drive (Highway 170). From the trailhead, there is access to several moderate to difficult trails: Mesa Trail, Shadow Canyon, Towhee, Homestead, South Boulder Creek Trail and Big Bluestem Trail.
Dowdy Draw:
Doudy Draw is located 1.8 miles west of Highway 93 on Eldorado Springs Drive (Highway 170). From the trailhead, there is access to several moderate trails: Doudy Draw trail and Community Ditch trail.
Marshall Mesa:
Marshall Mesa Trail connects to the Community Ditch Trail and a loop can be taken combining these two trails. Community Ditch Trail provides access to the south to the Greenbelt Plateau Trail and to the west to the Doudy Draw area. The trailhead is 0.3 mile east of South Cherryvale Road on Highway 170, which is also known as Marshall Road.
